EMPOWERMENT CAMP 2013

TCP Empowerment camp 2013 - one of the most beneficial camps that i have ever been to.

Introducing my Team ...
 TEAM USA !!!

And camp director
Sherman !

Day 1 -
Assembled at NP Youth Academy at 8.30am and i was late cos of a traffic jam haha opps. I was sort of the last one of my team to reach xx
And my team mentor was ... Hossana! the cutest mentor ever!
I realised that my legs are damn skinny which is super scary

After some interaction between teams, we had our first activity. It is the DISC behaviour profiling and i belong to the High C group, which stands for careful hahah am i .....?

Then they listed they strengths and weaknesses of each behaviour profiles which was true to a large extent.

After this was lunch plus Mentors&Mentees session (m&m session). Did some reflections and shared among the team.

Then it was a talk about servant leadership by Ms Rachel Ong.
Well, i can only say that i really took a lot away from this talk. Rachel is a really noble but humble person that has impacted many lives including a country, Afghanistan. All her life experiences that she shared were all so inspiring and that really made me reflect a lot on myself.

'It is not what you do or say but what you DON'T DO and DON'T SAY that speaks louder'

After that was a talk by Cooper, Paulo and Blaine on moral excellence. They talked about standards that they set for themselves on the matter of BGR and yea, that made many of us think about our own lives.
 -m&m and dinner-

i sort of mixed u the order of events and i cant rmb what happened after dinner alr so ... hahaha xD

Lights out and i slept at around 11-12+ after some camwhoring with teammates.
 Day 2 -
I woke up at 7.45am from the best sleep ever! The Loft is super comfortable ahaha i dont mind staying there for the rest of my school life :p

Breakfast at 8.15am but we reached at 8.35 i think?

After breakfast was the talk on AQ(Adversity Quotient). The speaker looks a lot like my jiujiu i cannot maintain sia HAHA.

He talked about his life experience too, and through that he taught us CORE. which was all about building resilience.

Then it was lunch. Lunch was rather...... interesting. They made us pick 'meal tickets'. There was A, B and C. I got the A. or rather, most of us got A. Some got C, while a minority got B.

B had Chicken chop with fries from Henry's Western, C got packet lunch while A ......

Got bread. LOLOL not bread from four leaves or bread talk, but Gardenia plain bread hahaha.

Huixin and i were jokers hah, once we got the bread, we immediately took selfies with it.

Turns out that we really only have bread for lunch haha but what was heartwarming was that the other people actually shared their food with us.

 After lunch was CAC .

We went around clementi for this.

Our first station was Bread giving.

Then we went to a coffee shop to be cleaners for 20mins haha.

Then we had to interview a foreign worker.

The place that we had our bready lunch. ahah
Then after that we had a sharing session in which we shared out experiences and stuff like that. And i was very surprised by myself for agreeing to stand up there in front of so many people to share about my experience haha

Many groups shared emotional stuffs that made quite a number of us, including Trainer Sherman tear.

But our group had nothing LOL i have no idea why we had nothing too.
My 2 favorite pictures ^^ The first one was with the NP's poster boy who had some new zealand blood in him hahaha i was super happy when he accepted my friend request on fb hehehe.
The second one is with Huixin, my camp buddy for 2 camps! hahaha she keeps enticing me to eat one sia tsk tsk.
Then we had m&m session and dinner.

After dinner was The Moat. It is a game that everyone played for 6hrs 58mins with 699 attempts. I shall not elaborate in case some future tcp campers are reading this haha xD it was a really really tiring night, but everyone perservered on ^^

Slept at around 3.45am in the morning.

Day3 -
Woke up at 7am to prepare and check out of the Loft.
Had breakfast and we wrote some card for the induction ceremony later on.
Then it was the induction ceremony. I am yet again surprised by myself for being able to stand alone in front of everbody to speak.

"Hello, i represent the nation of Tinghui.
In my nation's past, we were ...
 - Unaware about the true meaning of servant leadership
 - Strawberries that were either campers or quitters
 - Not practicing CORE since we didn't know it before.

 But today, we are ...
 - Aware and trying to incorporate all 5 traits of servant leadership into our own perception of leadership
 - Working hard to progress from a camper/quitter to a climber
 - Practice CORE and what we have learnt in our daily lives to improve and prepare ourselves for the challenges that awaits us in life.
 Thank you."

After the Ceremony was lunch. Which we all spent our time taking photos and stuff. That explains all the photos that are present in this post hehe.

Then it was some talent thingy and BLAINE IS FREAKING TALENTED WTS. HAHAHA ok.

Then the Mentors prepared a skit for us which we all could relate and reflect to by which all of us teared/cried. LOL

-m&m session-

BREAK CAMP

This camp has taught me many skills and strategies which are all applicable in our daily lives.

I want to thank all TCP Mentors including Trainer Sherman sincerely from the bottom of my heart for making this camp a really wonderful experience for us all. You guys watched us grow, for the past 3 days, in many ways. You guys equipped us with skills and strategies to prepare us for the different challenges that awaits us in life. THANK YOU ALL ♥ And with that, we are truely
Ready for the world.
